Da Billboard: new entry al numero 3 nella chart europea degli album
For the second time, A&M/Universal's Duffy completes the pan-European "double," holding at No. 1 on European Top 100 Albums with "Rockferry" and climbing back 2-1 on Eurochart Hot 100 Singles with "Mercy." The Welsh-born breakthrough artist previously held the top spots simultaneously for a week in mid-April.
"Rockferry" is in a second consecutive and fifth aggregate week at the European helm. Although it falls 1-2 in Sweden, the debut set climbs 5-4 in the Belgian region of Wallony and 14-8 in Poland, holding at No. 2 in the United Kingdom. The album leads Madonna's "Hard Candy" (Warner Bros.), which stays at No. 2 overall, logging another week at No. 1 in Greece and climbing 4-2 in Portugal and 4-3 in Hungary.
The top arrival on the Europe-wide album listing is Alanis Morissette's "Flavors of Entanglement" (Warner Bros.), at No. 3. That's fuelled by a No. 1 start in Switzerland and debuts of No. 3 in Austria, No. 6 in France and No. 8 in Germany and Italy, plus a 17-5 climb in Wallony. The album's U.K. debut is at No. 15, on sales of 9,000, according to the Official U.K. Albums Chart. That compares to an opening 17,000 for 2005's "Jagged Little Pill - Acoustic," which hit Top 100 Albums at No. 10, and 24,000 for "So-Called Chaos," which debuted at No. 1 overall in 2004.
Amy Winehouse, who's at No. 4 again on Top 100 Albums with "Back To Black" (Universal Island), enjoys a 2-1 climb with the album in Portugal, and moves 6-3 in Holland. Parlophone/EMI's trawl of Radiohead's back catalog for the new "Best Of" set makes a No. 5 dent in the European survey, after debuts of No. 1 in Ireland, No. 4 in the United Kingdom (on sales of 29,000), No. 6 in Portugal and No. 9 in Italy. It's up 12-3 in Wallony and 4-1 in neighboring Flanders.
Another longtime British favorite, Paul Weller, extends his solo chart career to 17 years (and his entire chart span, including his previous bands, the Jam and the Style Council, to 31 years) with "22 Dreams" (Universal Island). It's new at No. 6 on Top 100 Albums after becoming his third solo No. 1 in the United Kingdom with sales of 58,000, according to OCC data.
Usher's "Here I Stand" (LaFace/Sony BMG), which was last week's highest pan-European arrival at No. 3, drops to No. 7. That's after falls of 1-5 in the United Kingdom, 2-5 in Ireland and 3-5 in Flanders.
